Tiziana Finzi - Contemporary Films Adviser

Tiziana Finzi - Contemporary Films Adviser Tiziana Finzi was born in Trieste, Italy. She studied Architecture in Venice and History of Cinema in Trieste, where she prepared a thesis on American film director Robert Kramer.

After completing her studies, she started to co-operate with film magazines in Italy and abroad.

In 1994 she began her co-operation with the Biennale in Venice for the Venice Film Festival , where she had the opportunity to work in the field of independent cinema, debut feature films and documentaries.
She worked for the Venice Film Festival until 1998, when she became the Assistant Director of the Film Festival.

Finzi has also worked as a consultant for several international film festivals and institutions, such as Pesaro Film Festival, Italy; Taormina Arte Film Festival, Italy; Italia Cinema – Italian Film Promotion Agency, Italy; Alpe Adria Cinema – Trieste Film Festival, Italy.

Due to her experience as film researcher in the domain of independent cinema and to her interest in film experimentation and visual communication, she started working for Locarno Film Festival in 1999, where she held office as the Chief of Programming of “Cinéastes du présent” and “Compétition Vidéo”and “In Progress”. In the meantime, she held collaborations with some important museums and institutions of contemporary arts.

In January 2005, she worked as an art coordinator and consultant for the video installation “Notte 266” by Masbedo, produced by C.P. Company/Stone island for Pitti Immagine, Firenze.

Finzi has worked as the Deputy Director of Locano International Film Festival, Switzerland from 2005 to 2008.

Since December 2008, Finzi works as the Director of Miami International Film Festival and currently resides in Miami.
