PART 1: Jerry Fu comes from a very conservative family that runs a farming business in Zhe Jiang, China. Standing 187cm (6'2"), Jerry was the tallest in his family and amongst his friends. He put his height to great use early on as a high jumper and later in high school playing volleyball and basketball. Being so tall as a teenager, though, Jerry was very self conscious. He shied away from girls and could generally be found in the last row in his classes to avoid drawing attention to himself. When he finished high school Jerry enrolled in a modeling course against the wishes of his very conservative family. Jerry's mother went so far as to tell anyone who asked that he was in school to study language, not modeling. Having zero knowledge of this industry, he knew it was perfect for him, never gave up and now has never looked back! PART 3: As Jerry became more successful, his Chinese agency suggested he go to Singapore for new opportunities. There he met his New York agent who placed him in Paris, Milan and New York. He has also worked in Tokyo his favorite city, for its cleanliness and the quality of the people who live there. Singapore was also a favorite, but being such a small island he bored easily. Jerry has traveled extensively away from his studies in HaiNan and his steady line up of editorial and advertising campaigns in Beijing in his drive to achieve a worldwide campaign. He has adjusted quite easily in all the new countries he has been to and has never had problems communicating or adapting to the new surroundings. Two years ago, Paris and Milan were not to his satisfaction in terms of placement and he felt himself getting older or shall we say not being the fresh face any longer. He was elated though when he was confirmed for the Benetton worldwide campaign shot by renowned photographer David Sims. PART 4: Jerry has had a passion for photography since he was very young. His experiences working with and observing so many talented photographers in his career has been invaluable for his insatiable desire to learn about this art. He loves black & white photography, mostly capturing people in a digital format. He is not ready to give up modeling yet but photography will certainly be in his future plans. His other passion is writing. He started his blog 5 years ago in Beijing, http://blog.sina.com.cn/fuzhenggang, to document his experiences, and the societies and the people he encountered on a daily basis. He has never been shy writing honestly and very detailed about his happiness, anger or tears, with commentary sometimes offending the people within the world he walks.
