Biography

After a working as a dentist for a few years, Mauricio Montes immigrated to the United States to study film production. Then he returned to Colombia and started to work as an editor, also as an assistant director, and finally as a director for Tv commercials and narrative cinema. Last year, he attended New York University to take an intensive film production workshop where he produced the short film “Good bye”. Currently, he is working on the pre-production of his next short film “Asombrado” based on a short story of his own that won the third prize in the “Bogotá, World Capital of the Book 2008” contest. He is also working on the script “Of Animals and Men” for a feature film which won a scholarship from Ibermedia in 2009.
