Angelina Jolie-Eyelevel Syrian Refugees/Turkey

Perhaps some may be cynical regarding Angelina Jolie's "activism" on behalf of refugees and the UN refugee Agency. Angelina Jolie is one of the most visible and active UN Goodwill Ambassadors from Ecuador to Afghanistan on behalf of UNHCR. In the last few days, Angelina visited Syrian refugees who have from repression and violence across the border into Turkey.

I do not try to get into Angelina Jolie's heart or motives. Rather I observe her behavior among refugees and the results. When she is with them, she positions herself as a part rather than separate from them. She does not look down at them but is at eyelevel or looking up at the desperate and oppressed. She converses rather than talking down. Angelina employs her facial and body expressions to re-enforce their message as well as conveying her views. If it is a performance Angelina Jolie delivers for a good cause on behalf of others.
