Director John Madden Interview for THE DEBT

Director John Madden, famous for his Oscar-winning film, “Shakespeare in Love,” returns with the fantastic film “The Debt” starring Jessica Chastain, Sam Worthington, and Helen Mirren. It’s a psychological edge-of-your-seat thriller that tightens the noose as the film progresses. I love this movie, a great remake of the Israeli film “Ha-Hov.” Make sure to watch the movie when it opens on Aug. 31st.

I was blessed to meet Madden to interview him for “The Debt” where we talked about:

*** When critics describe a film as haunting and riveting, they might as well be talking about “The Debt”
*** What got him interested in making the movie?
*** The audio cues in the film, and his background in radio
*** The technical qualities of the movie
*** The meaning of the title “The Debt”

Transcripts / Production notes / Scripts

In 1997, shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel and Stefan about their former colleague David. All three have been venerated for decades by their country because of the mission that they undertook back in 1966, when the trio tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel in East Berlin. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team's mission was accomplished - or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations.
