Iron Eagle II
Iron Eagle II is a 1988 action film about a joint United States/Soviet task force formed to counter the threat of an unnamed Middle Eastern country. The task force is led by US Air Force Colonel (briefly promoted to Brigadier General during the film) Charles 'Chappy' Sinclair (Louis Gossett, Jr.). The Middle Eastern country is threatening both superpowers with nuclear ICBMs. As the task force attempts to accomplish its goals, it must overcome political sabotage as well as cultural and personal grudges. US Air Force pilot, Captain Matt Cooper (Mark Humphrey) a former wingman of Doug Masters (Jason Gedrick) is an integral part of the task force as the flight leader. The film grossed $10,497,324.Iron Eagle II was filmed on location in Israel. Filming locations included the Israeli Air Force base near Haifa, the desert flatlands, the mountains, and the coast of the Dead Sea. Israeli Air Force pilots performed the aerial maneuvers for the film.Iron Eagle II is the sequel to the 1986 film Iron Eagle and itself was followed by two sequels: Aces: Iron Eagle III and Iron Eagle IV. This was the final movie in which Jason Gedrick reprises his role as Doug Masters before being replaced by Jason Cadieux for Iron Eagle IV.
