a world i never knew of!

This is a great little doco, i never realised that these 'alternate societies' existed! What a bizarre insight into the world of online gamers. I think that the quality of the direction allowed for this short clip to both entertain and inform.

Crazy

Yes this movie is great, it reports about a parallel reality that many people don't even know it could exist.

Personally I played all the major MMORPGs around since forever (Ultima online, Everquest, World of Warcraft), and I have to say that, while the idea is pretty cool, it is so addictive that it can be considered a dangerous drug.

Binary Society

This is a fascinating documentary on a virtual world that is changing our lifes.
Also the Financial Times and other leading information agencies are explaining the industry behind this "virtual reality".
You might like it or not, but its a fact its influencing our lifes one way or the other.
Enjoy this documentary and think who you could be, you might have a chance....

Computer Nerds

This documentary is an interesting exploration into the seductive subculture of online gaming. It touches upon a fascinating comparison between the virtual world versus the natural (real world) economies -- a subject definitely worthy of further investigation. While the worldwide scope of online gaming is vast, impressive, and larger than life, less remarkable is the bunch of total geektards avoiding real people by making virtual friends online. It's truly astonishing to see gamers spending cold hard cash for computer generated real estate and commodities, to the tune of $26,000 real US DOLLARS for the virtually manufactured "Treasure Island." (Perhaps the fellows interviewed in the film have finally retired to the online paradise in question!)

I'm not sure whether it provides a viable alternative culture or a terrifying image of our future. It definitely provides a group of web savvy eligible bachelors... While it offers a very interesting study on a growing subculture, this film seems to raise more questions than it answers. Can't wait to see the sequel, "Revenge of the Nerds II: Gamers in Paradise (Island)."

I guess you can get everything on the internet these days. Even art films. (A note to the gaming addicts: chicks dig art films. Click over and save yourselves.)
