Synopsis
Charlie and another man compete in trying to help a young lady cross a muddy street. The rival finds a wooden plank which Charlie takes from him. They fight over an umbrella belonging to the rival. A policeman settles the dispute, ultimately arresting the rival. An innocent tramp is pushed into the lake

Chaplin's Between Showers
"Between Showers" (1914, Lehrman)
There is more action in this film than previously seen but still too goofy and drawn out at times. The 'ol brick to the face is cause for laughter scene was set up. A woman steals a dude's umbrella, who was only trying to help her in the first place, and fighting ensues as the woman beats the umbrella dude off of her and then Charlie and umbrella dude fight over the umbrella. Charlie is mistaken that the umbrella belongs to the woman, but probably wouldn't care anyhow. More the excuse to huck bricks at somebody!
This short is still Charlie and the Keystone people in development so while a few funnies can be had, by and large it's not one to re-watch.
