Fernando Pérez’s lyrical documentary covers 24 hours in the life of the city by interweaving portraits of a dozen ordinary “habaneros.” Using music and natural sounds, Pérez constructs a poetic, loving tapestry of a people who, despite hard lives, still dream. A critical and popular hit in Havana, this film is Cuba’s official Academy Award submission for Best Foreign Language Film.
