Journeying north through Scotland, Beth encounters a stranger in a secluded lochside woodland and is disturbed by a sense of unease and a fear of an intended suicide.
Based on a true story 'The Clearing' takes place in a beautiful but desolate part of Scotland. This poetic story follows the journey of a woman dealing with the break down of a relationship. Photographer Beth embarks on a long drive back to her hometown in the north of Scotland. Travelling through the dramatic autumnal landscape she veers off the beaten track and into the woodlands where she happens upon a man in a clearing. Beth becomes aware that he has journeyed there with the intention of taking his own life. Their chance encounter gives Beth's life a new perspective.

nice short about one of the biggest problem in today's society: loneliness.
a little slow but not too much.
anyway this guy is lucky as he lives in the woods and gets to know a cute girl (she allso run after him!)
A Thoughtful Moment
This film is a wonderful, ethereal, well rounded short. The score adds to the magical quality as opposed to drowning the script, which so often happens.
The acting is sharp and the script strong and clever, and the cinematography gives the film an unusual, organic and gritty feel.
Well worth watching!
Beautiful short film
A beautiful, poetic short film that portrays a very difficult subject matter with subtlety and sensitivity. Very strong performances from the actors and a great score that fits the film perfectly.
Short with a feeling
Beautifully photographed little film where feelings and atmosphere seems to grow over story. And I mean it in the good way. Music and misty autumn landscapes play very well together. Only a little too shaky camera work at the end is some what distracting.
