Jack Says
by Simonmac

The story follows a character JACK from escaping a bloody crime scene in London, to the safe harbor of an un-friendly ex-girlfriend that resides in Paris. Because of a blow to the head Jack cannot remember details from his London life too well (and principally cannot remember if he actually has killed anyone before). Whilst lying low in Paris, he runs into another British gangster that seems to be taking advantage of a French Cabaret singer in a dingy nightclub, Jack resists the urge to help her - recognizing the pitfalls of such a move, but gets draw into the fight when his exgirlfriend is brutally killed as a warning to 'stay away'. There is an un-spoken love between Jack and his ex-girlfriend that gets cut prematurely because of her murder, with Jack just beginning to trust her but cannot bring himself to admit his deeper feelings for her. What ensues is a revenge game, but once again Jack has possibly bitten of more than he can chew, as the obsessive London gangster isn't just brutal in her love for this French cabaret singer, she's actually hungry for it. Has Jack repeated the mistakes he made in London? His slowly returning memory, and a final blow to the head, reveal a somewhat surprising conclusion to the film. "Some Journey's are measured by what we sacrifice to get there." The film is set in Paris - but only to subvert expectations of the film (i.e. this is by no means a love story). This is really a gritty London based story, with a romantic backdrop. In a way we aim to show that although revenge is often committed out of love, but we must all ask ourselves how far is too far to go? As a man in his twenties, Jack is still finding his identity and under-tones of the film will suggest that his un-certainty over his past crimes might be an uncertainty of his character - has he become the man he doesn't want to be? Could he imagine a better and simplified life with Erin? In connection with the tag line for the film we aim to take our audience on a journey with Jack to find out whether revenge is the key to morale salvation. The narrative has been through twelve drafts before arriving at our shooting final script. The story has been developed over five months, and has been re-written with actors in mind, and rehearsals to inform chief script Writer Alan Ronald. We believe that the shooting script we have contains the exact amount of violence, sex and plot turns to keep an audience interested and enthralled in the decisions that Jack will make. This is a character driven film, with a paced narrative, that will hold our audience's attention with un-expected narrative developments.
