Jazz Heroes is an innovative series that explores the years from 1946 to 1966, examining the brilliant music that emerged from those formative years as well as personal recollections from those who lived the music and the culture. The impact of jazz has gone far beyond the music - its influence on fashion, language, street culture and cinema is inescapable. This episode focuses on the life and work of saxophonist John Coltrane. With his revolutionary style and unique spiritual outlook on life and music, Coltrane is known by many as the most influential jazz musician of the second half of the century. This program also features saxophonist Courtney Pine.
