Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions
The Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions is a legally-binding international agreement that ensures artists, cultural professionals, practitioners and citizens worldwide can create, produce, disseminate and enjoy a broad range of cultural goods, services and activities, including their own.
The Convention was adopted in 2005 by the 33rd General Conference and entered into force in 2007. There are currently 118 ratifications and work on a complete set of operational guidelines to map out implementation is has been completed. A new phase in the life of the Convention has been marked by the launch of the International Fund for Cultural Diversity.
