Japan Nuclear Catastrophe-Can We Trust Analysis?

Probably like many of you, I have become a bit skeptical regarding the assurances provided with respect to the Japan nuclear emergency and spread of radiation, or let's call it what it is - catastrophe. Perhaps some are suspicious about whether we are being informed truthfully or timely. There are already significant inconsistencies in the precautions advised by US versus Japanese officials, for example, how far the exclusion zone. However, my main observation is how much does anyone really know or can project? It appears that much of analysis is founded upon uncertain, even unreliable input - and you know the standard expression regarding input and output.
