On Own Land (Slovene: Na svoji zemlji) was a 1948 film directed by France Štiglic. It was the first Slovene full-length film. The script was written by Ciril Kosmač, based on his novel. It was entered into the 1949 Cannes Film Festival. The film depicts a mid-World War II Slovene village in the region of Primorska, which is occupated by the Italians. After their capitulation the German army takes over the village. The movie tells about both the partisan resistance forces and the villagers, who offer full support to the partisans.
