Rock-Show of Diplomacy 2012

Every year around mid-September kings/queens, Presidents, Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers and other global leaders come to United Nations HQ in NYC. It is a couple of weeks of brief bilateral meetings and long speeches to generally half-empty General assembly halls, unless the US President or Fidel Castro is speaking. The former, because he is the most powerful person in the world - the latter, because he really used to put on a dramatic play.

It is a show, but there is also substance and every once in a while some good also does come out of it.
