Shine Global's first film, WAR/DANCE, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary in 2007 and has received over 20 festival awards including the Best Director award at Sundance. WAR/DANCE also won two Emmy awards for Best Documentary and Best Cinematography. WAR/DANCE tells the stories of three children, Dominic, Rose and Nancy, who live in an internally displaced persons camp in the war zone of northern Uganda yet go on to compete in Uganda's national music and dance festival held in Kampala.
