Women & Disasters-Bangladesh

Every year during monsoons, Bangladesh is hit by deadly cyclones. Among the victims are a disproportionate amount of women and children. A combination of traditional gender roles and the absence of solid housing structures is to blame for the death of many women. With the help of the World Bank, EU, AusAID, and IFAD, concrete shelters are being erected in order to provide a safe haven for women and children. This film report from World Bank and its efforts at gender equality for women/girls.
