Alwan for the Arts is a non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting and facilitating access to diverse and dynamic expressions of Arab culture.

The New York Arab South Asian Film Festival, founded by Alwan in 1998, showcases new, independent and classic Arab and South Asian Cinema.

This year, the NYASAFF features over 50 feature premieres, documentaries and short films from 25 countries in North Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Europe, and North America.

The 2008 NYASAFF is presented in collaboration with 3rd i NY, The South Asian Women’s Creative Collective, Art in General, Columbia University, and NYU’s Asian/Pacific/American Studies program.
