Hello everyone.

I've attached to this week's message a video interview I did with Producer Stephan Kern in Adelaide last year. He discusses the current trends in the film and television industries relating to the introduction of multi-platform digital technologies, his career change from science to film/television production, and how you have to suffer for your art if you want to make it in the industry.

Trained as a scientist, Stephan has a PhD from the University of Adelaide in Reproductive Physiology. Since completing his Doctoral studies he has actively pursued a career in the media, firstly taking a position at Twentieth Century Fox in London and later at the Nine Television
Network in Australia. Stephan has written, produced and directed a number of film and television projects including the feature film “Iced Lolly” (2003). His association with Digicosm included producing the films “Demon” (2000), “Breaking Point” (2001), and “Guardian” (2002). In 2005, Stephan co-directed the documentary, “Mullets&Bars”, which was nominated for best documentary at the Raindance Festival in London. Stephan recently completed two projects for the Nepal-Australia Friendship Association: “A Bridge to the Madi”, filmed in Southern Nepal and “Dhruba Tara: A School in Nepal”, filmed in Kathmandu. These titles are currently being sold around the world as part of a fundraising effort for the underprivileged people of this country.

His production company website can be found at www.golfdelta.com.

I hope you enjoy the interview.

Regards,
Ben Warner
