Blade Runner 2 being written

A sequel to “Blade Runner” is rumoured to be in the works. 'Eagle Eye' co-writer Travis Wright claims to be working on a follow-up to the 1982 sci-fi Blockbuster. At the moment, he is doing this on his own, but he hopes to sell it to a producer.
In my opinion, Blade Runner is a self-contained classic and “Blade Runner 2” would be a terrible idea: how could this movie be as good as the original?
