Zoriah is an American journalist and war photographer. He is currently embedded in Sadr City, Iraq. He does not work for the Government, the Military, the Marines or any other organization. He is strictly a freelance journalist. You can read about his day-to-day activity complete with images on his blog.
"I have come to realize that it is like being in jail, with a window looking out onto another jail."
What it means to be embedded:
"Embedding allows journalists to live with soldiers or Marines and
document their lives and their struggles. It also allows interaction,
to some degree, with the local population, while remaining somewhat
protected. Embedding is not considered ideal to most journalists, but
we find ourselves with few choices because it has become so dangerous
for us during the past few years of the war. You can easily do a
Google search to find out more about the number of killed and injured
journalists during this conflict."
Back in July, Zoriah was temporarily barred from the Marine Corps because of some of the pictures he took showing Marines killed in a suicide bombing. Here is the interview and transcript from Democracy Now.
More about Zoriah's background: Here are some interviews from his website.

We wish Zoriah safety and well-being in Iraq and we thank him for allowing us to share his important work with all of you, our community members.
