Flying lions for the Venice Film Festival
2008-08-15 13:09:55
The new set design created by Dante Ferretti for the next Venice International Film Festival (that will run from 27th August to 6th September) shows three lions flying toward the future.
Ferretti, who won two Oscars for “The aviator” (2005) and “Sweeney Todd” (2008), designed a Golden Lion tearing through a white screen in front of the old Palazzo del Cinema and followed by two Golden Lions, symbols of the future exhibitions. The animals are turned towards the area where a new Palazzo del Cinema will soon be erected. Ferretti has been working for the Festival for five years. In 2007 he created a huge sphere that symbolically knocked down the historical building.
