Movie moments in Beijing 2008
2008-08-25 02:38:11
Yesterday I was looking at the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games and I begun to think: “Which episodes in Beijing 2008 could become nice movie moments?”
This is a list of stories that I would suggest to scribes and directors:
1) Michael Phelps wins eight golden medals breaking Mark Spitz’s 36-year-old record of seven golds at a single Games.
2) Russia’s Natalia Paderina and Georgia’s Nino Salukvadze embrace during the medal ceremony after the women's 10-metre air pistol final while their two countries' armies are fighting.
3) In handball, Iceland tries for its first gold. The team loses against France, but the silver is a great result too.
4) Liu Xiang’s withdrawal leaves China in tears: the defending 110 meter hurdles champion was one of the most acclaimed sportsmen in the country.
5) Benjamin Boukpeti wins the bronze in the men's single kayak slalom and becomes his country’s first ever Olympic medallist.
6) Usain Bolt breaks two world records in 100 metres and 200 metres.
7) Tibetan activists’ worldwide protests disrupt the Olympic torch relay.
Do you have any other suggestions?
