Hi Everyone! Thanks so much for reading!
I wanted to blog today so I could give you a brief introduction to what I am about, a bit of an insight into the type of blogs you can be expecting from me, and the things I will be updating you with over the next few months... or years even (as long as I keep you entertained enough!)
At the moment I work as a production assistant in commercials! This means I get a fantastic insight into the world of advertising... how things are done, some brilliant stories that happen on set and the general world of filmmaking.
A recent thing I worked on was this advert:
Which is doing quite well on the internet and also within the commercials world.
It took 2 days to shoot, 10 cast members, 20 extras, 50 crew members, a huge art department, 900 pairs of trainers and a set built in a studio... and over 400 takes to get it nailed down! Despite what many people think, the vast majority of this one take is real. It is all just one take.. no sneaky cuts oR tricks, and the only naughty bit of editing trickery is when the guy throws the trainer up onto the shelf... a bit naughty I admit but it does look great.
Throughout the two days, the entire crew were on edge! Funnily enough, after half way through day 1, it was the stockroom that was the most difficult thing to get right, as the boys in there were having to repeat it so many times compared to the actors towards the end. Anytime the camera made it out of the stock room.... everyone was holding their breath for it to all go well... one of the takes was perfect until right up until the end! We were shooting an alternative ending where the last guy was meant to throw a reciept into the bag and miss (bit of a gag) However.... he actually got it in, dispite trying not to! "Scrap the whole take and lets go again folks!!"
It was directed by Scott Lyon, known for making tricky adverts... always something difficult for production to try and deal with :) I am working on something at the moment with him... much bigger, much more difficult... phantom cameras, massive cranes, SFX teams, Creature Effects teams, animals, vets... and more... should be fun!!!
Thanks for reading and I'll keep you updated with a few more things I have coming out at the moment... looking forward to it!
