Handsome + Young + Talented + Intelligent + BRAVE= US Veterans.
When I was growing up, I always thought that if you were a Veteran, you were an old man. Oh boy, was I wrong. Today’s veterans are young, handsome, educated men from all of the United States, who have put their young lives and futures on line for us. I have been reading veteran’s blogs on Film Annex, and I have been completely overwhelmed. There are not many employment opportunities for veterans returning home from war. Imagine going to war, and fighting for your country, and then coming home to no job. To become a veteran starting a business they need to start from scratch because many of them have lost years of their lives at war. Do they get enough support?
Are there enough veteran business opportunities in American today? Or are we sweeping their future under the rug after we welcome them home? While watching one video, young men spoke about opening a bar, gym, tattoo parlor, or a coffee shop. I would be visiting those places if I knew that it was a veteran owned business. Would you?
It seems that American business owners and corporations have not given Veteran’s the support they need to become a veteran entrepreneur, but (G.I.V.E.) Global Initiative for Veteran Entrepreneurship is giving back to Veteran’s by supporting them with what they need to begin their business. Film Annex has become motivated by their stories of strength, bravery and dedication to this country and has created (G.I.V.E.) Global Initiative for Veteran Entrepreneurship.
Now we need to ask ourselves, what can we individually do to support Veterans? As a teacher, I educate my students on their struggles when they return from war. We already speak of their bravery and strength during battles overseas, but we don’t discuss their battles at home. I am looking forward to watching their journey with (G.I.V.E.) Global Initiative for Veteran Entrepreneurship. Finally, someone is giving back.
