WITHOUT WORDS (IN THE CAVE OF TECHNOLOGY)

Without words: that's how you stay in front of a dream, a recall, an emotion. The power of silence. As a videoartist, I'm trying to (re)create dreams, recalls and emotions without using the words, ma the images and the music. For this reason I like to work with dancers: because they are quite used to express complex moods with their bodies. So I consider them something more then simple dancers or performers, but "actors without voice": they express themselves using the silence of their bodies. Especially because some of my videos are quite narrative, but without speaking actors.
Do computers dream? For sure they do. We live in a cave full of technology, and we are surrounded by the shadows of the worlds we create, but now also technology is able to create worlds, to offer points of view of the world, and to to change the look of the world. Everybody has a cellphone able to create images near to our body: it's quite a visual graft. We want to be watched by the technology, we want to watch the technology. Voyeurism and exhibitionism in the cave of technology. So what happens when our imagery, our system of images collide with the technology's imagery? An overflow of "models" and archetypes, but also something new: the union of dream and science, of natural and artificial, of past and future tenses. The image of the body is the focus of this process. And the female body is quite a sort of (esoteric) stage where metamorphosis is the leading actor. So that's way I work with female figures, or presences, and that's way in almost all of my videos they are naked. Because they are without time and without space: they incarnate process, moods, themes, narrations, and they have to go beyond the body, to transform in living dreams, nightmares, recalls, emotions. There isn't a strictly erotic intention in my videos(it's more erotic an half naked body), even if eroticism, of course, is a chance of the mirror in the eyes of the viewer. And that's why they have a costume (a real costume: a model) when they are dressed. Without forgetting that, quoting Jung, to meet your shadow is something terrible. In the cave of technology is something beautiful and terrible.
