Gadaffi&Mussolini-Shared Destiny?
Independent Films
Benito Mussolini, El Duce, invaded Libya in a prelude to WWII and set up the world's first concentration camps in that country to fight the resistance to his occupation. Colonel Gaddafi has often exploited the history of Libya's colonization by Italy to further his own rhetoric and legitimacy. The link between Mussolini and Gaddafi though is more personal, and their stage choreography becomes eerily similar, (even if not similarly executed). Gaddafi, ever more recognizable for his ecentric style and fashion, and not in a good way, is he modeling his presentation after that of Mussolini. Will Gaddafi end up like Mussolini?
Omar Mukhtar was the true Libyan freedom figher, a simple and unselfish leader, who confronted Mussolini with courage, cleverness and few weapons to match, and was eventually hanged by the fascists occupation forces.
