Montenegro-WTO

It can can take a few years to negotiate an accession agreement to the WTO (World Trade Organization) - it has taken the Russian Federation 18 years. The entry ceremony though takes only an hour or two, and in the case of the recently independent Southeast European and former Yugoslav Republic of Montenegro, it is another coming out party.

The Working Party on Montenegro's accession paved the way for the country's membership in the WTO by adopting, ad referendum, the country's accession terms. Ministers are expected to accept Montenegro as a new WTO Member at the 15 -17 December Ministerial Conference.
