Estamira, a 63-year-old schizophrenic and mother of three, experienced a lifetime of abuse at the hands of her father and her husbands before succumbing to mental breakdown. This documentary from Bus 174 producer Marcos Prado shows Estamira’s struggles in chilling detail and with unsettling cinematography. Ostensibly about the effect of the Brazilian system on one mental health patient, the story has much greater significance.
