Luca Rossetti codriven by Matteo Chiarcossi wins, dominating, the 3rd
Eskisehir Rally, second round of the 2012 Turkish Rally Championship 2012;
the three-time European Champion took the lead from the second special
stage. The driver of Skoda Turkey - Yuce Auto increased, stage after stage,
his advantage in the overall standings to reach the final victory. With the
Skoda Fabia Super 2000 run by Pegasus Racing and Pirelli tyres the Italian
crew, but with Turkish licence, has won 8 out of 9 special stages. The
Eskisehir Rally was a completely new race for Luca Rossetti, tackled in a
car with which he had competed only once, but the representative of United
Business, showing great adaptation skills and thanks to his great experience
in competing in ever-changing rallies with completely new roads has, after a
special stage of study, become familiar with his performing Skoda and has
steadily increased its advantage to climb on the top step of the podium.
A serene and satisfied Luca Rossetti said "I dedicate this victory, as well
as to Skoda Turkey - Yuce Auto, to Cem Acar team principal of Pegasus Racing
and to the whole team, they were very good and professional, when one starts
a new season, new championship, with a new car, new tyres and without any
previous preparation there is always the doubt of not being immediately
competitive, after Ege Rally where we finished second this victory has
brought optimism, our Fabia S2000 and the Pirelli tyres have proved to be at
the top. It is a great victory, in front of my friends and many Turkish
fans, for me racing in Turkey always has a special and pleasant taste, the
events are hard and even more so for me because it is all completely new,
despite having won 8 out of 9 special stages this was an even match, fought
until the end and I do not hide the fact that my opponents, who on this
occasion were again very strong and fast, worried me until the end. With
Pegasus Racing we have adopted set-up and tyre choices that eventually
rewarded us. The season is long but it is important to have begun to win
again, I am confident that we can do well in the next rallyes of the
championship".
Rossetti - Chiarcossi led other 6 S2000 cars, reflecting a good technical
level of the Turkish championship; the runners-up were Volkan Isik and Vedat
Bostanci, they too with a Skoda Fabia S2000, ahead of Fatih Kara and Bilge
on Fiat Grande Punto S2000, then the car of Team Castrol Ford Turkye, the
Fiesta S2000 driven by Yagìz Avci and Bahadir Gücenmez, 5th place for Ercan
Kazaz and Emire Cantürk - Skoda Fabia S2000, 6th place for Murat Bostanci -
Onur Vatansever with Ford Fiesta and in 7th place Burak Çukurova and Ünal
Tezel also with a Skoda Fabia S2000. The next round of the Turkish
Championship will be the Istanbul Rally to be held on 9th and 10th June.
