The animations of Tomas Schats (Eindhoven 1976) are condensed, straight-forward, light-footed and graceful observations with a strong and poetic eloquence. In his subtle 'clear-line drawings' on man's opportunities and limitations the seemingly personal becomes extra-ordinairily universal.
"Preferably I find myself between the fragments of lines and sketches that I put up against the wall above my desk. All impressions and observations that I acquire merge here. I write a lot, I always keep a little notebook with me in which I can put my thoughts into words. This makes up a large part of my work process. I present my ideas regularly; they are small, nimble but well-considered. My work is best described as image swirls."
