ICC releases pre World Cup 2019 schedule

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has just released the complete calendar for all the ICC Major events taking place from now till the 2019 World Cup. The schedule was first aired after the board meeting took place in Dubai on Thursday.

The ICC World T20 of 2016 has by far been one of the most anticipated cricketing events in recent times. The tournament now has it’s dates confirmed. The ICC’s premier T20 bout will be contested in India from March 11 to April 3, 2016, but the final venues are yet to be confirmed.

Among the Test playing nations, England received the honor of hosting 3 major ICC tournaments till the 2019 World Cup. The Three Lions will host the ICC Champions Trophy and the Women’s World Cup, both of 2017. They are also all set to host the biggest thing of them all, the ICC World Cup 2019 itself. This would be the first time in almost 2 decades that the Englishmen would be hosting the One Day World Cup, with the last time being in 1999, which crowned Australia the victors.

The second most awarded of the Test playing nations is Bangladesh, despite the recent security issues in the country. The Bengalis have been given the duties of hosting both ICC U19 Cricket World Cup of 2016 and the Cricket World Cup 2019 qualifiers in 2018.

New Zealand will be hosting the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup of 2018, while the West Indies will be given the rights to the World T20 in the same year.

The biggest shocker of all these annoucements is that there is no World T20 scheduled for the year 2018, when the ICC has had a trend of conducting the premier T20 competition once every two years. What remains to be seen is whether the schedule would be revised to allow for a World T20 in late 2018 or 2019.
