Steve McQueen's "12 Years A Slave" Tops 2013 Toronto International Film Festival, Checkout Complete List of Winners

Posted on at

Steve McQueen's "12 Years A Slave" walked one step closer to Oscar glory by winning the Toronto International Film Festival's People's Choice Award!  Previous winners were "Silver Linings Playbook," "The King's Speech," and "Slumdog Millionaire."  And all were honored at the Academy Awards with "The King's Speech" and "Slumdog Millionaire" taking home the Best Picture prizes.

Let's see if Academy voters will also fall for "12 Years A Slave" or give more Oscar love to the TIFF's People's Choice Award runners-up, Stephen Frears' "Philomena" with Dame Judi Dench and Steve Coogan (who co-wrote the script with Jeff Pope), and Denis Villeneuve's "Prisoners" starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal (Villeneuve's "Incendies" was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film of the Year in 2011).
