What are berries? Let us see what Wikipedia tells us.

A berry is a small, pulpy, and often edible fruit. Berries are typically juicy, rounded, brightly colored, sweet or sour, and do not have a stone or pit, although many pips or seeds may be present. Common examples are strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, red currants, and blackcurrants.

Berries are perfect kind of morning fruit. All kinds of berries can be eaten in the morning because berries will not spike your blood sugar and insulin level. A full cup of berries may contain 40 to 80 calories but it contains a large number of anthocyanins which is an antioxidant shown to reduce inflammation and protect the heart.

Proceeding further, in one survey 94,000 were those women, who ate at least three portions of anthocyanin-rich blueberries and strawberries and had a significantly lower risk of heart attack compared to those who ate less. But the problem is that berries are a seasonal fruit and they are not available throughout the year in fresh form. Fortunately, good news is that frozen berries have higher antioxidant levels than fresh berries because they are picked and sealed at their peak ripeness.

Nuts are considered to be high in calories and the studies suggest you do not eat all of the fat in nuts. It is a fact that your body can only absorb about 130 calories from a 29-gram serving of almonds. This may be true for some other nuts as well, but at this time only almonds have been tested.
