Ben Affleck Talks About “Argo”

Uploaded on Wednesday 10 October 2012

Okay, I admit, I love “Argo,” and let me tell you, it’s so easy to interview stars when you love the movie. Yet, confession time, meeting Ben Affleck, the star/director of the film, made me kind of nervous. And I haven’t been that nervous meeting a celebrity and I’ve been doing this for years! Probably because, I respect Mr. Affleck, and I admire his skills as a director.

In “Argo,” Affleck also stars as Tony Mendez, the CIA’s best exfiltration specialist. He’s assigned to free the six Americans hiding in the home of Canadian Ambassador Ken Taylor. His plan? To make a fake movie. But the mission is all real.

In this interview, we talked about:

*** He’s 3 for 3 in film directing (“Gone Baby Gone,” “The Town,” “Argo”)
*** His Middle East studies in college – so “Argo” is like his thesis
*** What was his intent in making “Argo?”
*** How did he separate fact from fiction in making a dramatic film grounded in reality like “Argo”
*** How did he inspire himself and crew in making “Argo?”
*** The hair!

Have fun!
